As part of the Victoria's Pride celebrations, we worked with the Victorian Government and Midsumma to ensure statewide representation of LGBTQIA+ communities. Explore the queer history of the Wodonga Area (Wiradjuri country) with our project Queer-ways: Retracing Wodonga's Queer Footprints.

Join us on our regional tour of queer history in the Wodonga Area (Wiradjuri country) for Victoria's Pride.

Exhibition
This digital exhibition showcases a re-telling of Wodonga's queer history through the voice of regional LGBTQIA+ advocate and facilitator, Meg Sheehan.
After initial research supported by the Australian Queer Archives and community consultation directly. with Victoria's LGBTQIA+ community, LUCIANO and George Keats have charted queer experiences, locations of significance, and memories onto an illustrated Augmented Reality map of the town.

Queer-ways was established on the unceded traditional lands of the Wurundjeri nation in the Kulin alliance.
This project focuses on the geographical location referred to as “Wodonga" in Wiradjuri country. The map we have utilised is based on previous settler-colonial cartography and may not accurately reflect the Aboriginal cultural landscape.
In the future, we hope to find and develop the technology to integrate Indigenous nations into the Queer-ways map. If you are not aware of the rightful custodians of the land on which you are located, you can learn more at www.aiatsis.gov.au.
